MCS Educational Trust
The Maryknoll Convent School Educational Trust, established in 1992 to provide educational and financial support to the Schools, has in past years made significant contributions. Thanks to the generous support of former and present students, parents, teachers and other donors, the Trust has been able to continuously improve our schools, to maintain educational facilities and grounds that we can truly be proud of.
Dr. Pauline Chan, a former student of the school and an outstanding industrialist who had contributed much to education in Hong Kong and in English, kindly consented to be the Patron of the Trust.
Among the major enterprises of the Trust, the Trust supported generously by the Hong Kong Jockey Club successfully completed a new wing in the Secondary Section. This provided much needed additional classrooms, a staff room and various other facilities. In 1995, the Trust renovated the former Regional House of the Maryknoll Sisters to create 15 classrooms and other facilities for the Primary Section. The Hong Kong Jockey Club also gave generously towards the renovation. As a result of this expansion, the Primary Section was able to turn to whole-day education in 1997. Air-conditioning of both schools as well as improved playgrounds, computer and music facilities are among the many other contributions of the Trust.
Since then, the Trust has been providing financial assistance to both schools to enable them to hire additional teaching staff. This ensures that the teaching of English, Putonghua, and Computer Studies as well as Physical Education remains at a higher standard than would otherwise be the case.
